Seekers of Meaning 11/3/2023: Sarah McCaslin discusses the work of the Psychotherapy and Spirituality Institute

On this week’s episode of the Seekers of Meaning TV Show and Podcast, Sarah McCaslin, executive director and therapist at the Psychotherapy and Spirituality Institute, discusses the institute’s training, therapy, and consulting services that support the emotional and spiritual health of the community.

Chief among PSI’s continuing education programs are our Annual Certificate in Spiritually-Informed Psychotherapies, and Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) for Clinicians.

In its therapy, PSI has always believed what current studies in neuroscience are discovering: that our natural inclination towards meaning making, originally seen in forms of ritual, and later through more formal expressions of spirituality and religion, is a crucial part of healing and creating a sense of wellbeing. In addition to specific mental health conditions, there are many aspects of society that can disrupt our sense of who we are and contribute to personal conflict and strife. PSI clinicians are prepared to explore and support every facet of what we need to feel whole – in mind, body, and spirit. PSI clinicians are at the forefront of their treatment modalities and strive to create a compassionate space for healing. We sincerely believe that care and acceptance transform us and the world we live in.

From a consulting standpoint, PSI practitioners were hands-on supporters through tremendous upheaval, which included navigating fiscal crises, the AID’s epidemic, the unthinkable aftermath of the World Trade Center attacks, and most recently, the Covid Pandemic. Each plight has given PSI an opportunity to serve those most vulnerable in our community, creating base knowledge and experience that continues to inform what it shares today.
